Today, we are bringing up the topic of how to protect everyone around us. Either one works in a hospital or a medical billing company, when they take time to rest and spend with family, they can risk other people’s lives unintentionally. The same goes for the common public.
Of course, healthcare professionals are more familiar with the risks of this disease and cautious of their activities. Therefore, the virus transmission rate from them is relatively low.
The problem arises when the public doesn’t abide by the precautionary measures and expose others or get exposed to the virus.
This article will take everyone with the necessary information for people living in close proximity. They can be large extended families living together, or people living in small apartments.
People of age group 65 and higher or having critical medical conditions or babies are more at risk. To protect vulnerable people around us, let’s follow through the following instructions as issued by the CDC.
Limit Errands
Healthcare officials advise people to limit their outdoor activities as much as possible unless it’s necessary. There are some activities that can’t be paused or delayed such as, grocery shopping, going for medical appointments, and checking in pharmacies.
Dealing with any of the above-mentioned scenarios, one must:
- Send out someone for errands, who are at lesser risk than others are.
- Maintain distance with others.
- Cover your face with a cloth mask.
- If possible, avoid using public transport.
Instructions for Using Public Transportation
In case someone has to use public transport, he/she must:
- Maintain a six-foot distance from other passengers.
- Avoid highly touched surfaces/objects, such as handrails, doorknobs, etc.
- Sanitize your hands as soon as possible after leaving the transport.
If you’re going out in your conveyance, avoid traveling with people of other households. In case of going out with someone else,
- Maintain space between you and others in the vehicle.
- Don’t lock windows and let the air cross within the vehicle or turn on the air-conditioner.
- After returning home, wash your hands and sanitize yourself.
- Don’t share food with others or utensils, and avoid physical proximity such as hugging and kissing.
Give Proper Rest to Vulnerable People and don’t give them Tiresome Responsibilities
Adults of higher age groups or medical conditions should avoid taking care of children as they can pose a threat to their health and vice versa. If they must take care of the young kids, the kids must not be in contact with other households.
Separate Any Family Member Who Is Sick
- If anyone in your family is sick, make his/her room separate, and avoid mixing them with people of vulnerable position health-wise. Maintain fresh air in the room.
- Allow only one person to take care of the sick person.
- If you share a bedroom, place a physical divider around the sick person’s bed, be it via curtain or cardboard.
By following these instructions, one can protect his family and himself from the potential danger of COVID-19.
